Become a camp counsellor

Day Camp Counsellors play a vital role in creating a safe, supportive, and fun camp experience. Core responsibilities include supervising campers, ensuring their safety and hydration, reminding them about bathroom breaks, sunscreen, and lunchtime, and guiding their group to programs on schedule.

But being a counsellor is so much more than daily tasks. You become a friend, mentor, and role model—someone who helps campers feel seen, valued, and confident. You’ll have the chance to share your passions, spark curiosity, and support children as they grow, learn, and discover who they are.

Above all, counsellors help keep the joy, energy, and positive spirit of camp alive every single day.

To apply you must be at least 16 years old and currently in Grade 11 (at minimum).

My first week as a counselor I was so scared to do something wrong, but I quickly settled in when I met my campers. From that moment I never had to feel scared when challenges presented themselves because everyone was always eager to help. Circle R taught me confidence and quickly saw me grow as a leader.  It truly was a family at Circle R and an amazing work experience.

When I worked at camp this summer, I found a part of myself I didn’t know still existed. The love I felt, the support, the memories I made, the friendships I built almost instantly, changed who I was for the better. I started the summer, a little shy, and not completely whole, but the second I stepped onto the Circle R property, and became a part of the community, something inside of me clicked, I was home.
